Just a couple of days from the start of the much-anticipated Test series between England and India, former England captain Michael Vaughan has given his prediction on who is going to win the series. In the past, Vaughan’s series predictions have been absurd at times, but the former cricketer has dealt with some social media punches.

Having said that, Vaughan explained a few reasons and said that he is favoring India to win this five-match Test series. India has arrived in England with a lot of hopes and seems to look like quite a better team than the hosts. The English team under Joe Root has been in a tough place since the start of this year. They lost against India 3-1 earlier this year and then lost 1-0 at home against New Zealand.

While doing the SWOT analysis of the England team on Cricbuzz, Vaughan pointed out that in the absence of Ben Stokes, this England team had lost the series against the Blackcaps. He also called this series the best chance for the Indian team to win a series in England. India has only won three times in England, in 1971, 1986, and 2007.

It is the best chance they have in winning here: Michael Vaughan on India

“I know I get a few right and a few wrong. But, no Ben Stokes and given the fact that New Zealand beat this team just recently, India will win this series. It is the best chance they have in winning here. The last couple of times they have been here, they had high hopes and then just flattered for whatever reasons. They had not managed to get enough runs,” Vaughan said.

Vaughan pointed out that without Stokes, England will always find themselves without a batter or a bowler short in this series. He also said that Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will play a part in this series given the fact that the series is being played in August and September. He finally topped off his prediction by saying that India will win 3-1.

“With no Stokes, it will be difficult for England to balance this side. They will either go with a batter less or a bowler less. So, it will be difficult for Joe Root to manage. August and September spin will play a part. I am going to predict and I hate to say this, India are going to win 3-1,” Vaughan said.
