India women’s team is all set to clash against England in the three-match ODI series starting 27th June 2021. The first game of the series will be played at County Ground, Bristol. Both teams played an exciting Test match last week which ended up in a draw. The hosts recently announced their squad for this series and have included some fresh faces in the team.
On the other hand, the Indian think tank will have to make an important decision on the opening combination with Shafali Verma included in the ODI team for the first time. In all probability, Shafali Verma will open the innings alongside Smriti Mandhana.
Let’s look at important stats and numbers before the start of the ODI series between India Women and England Women:
Head to Head record: Both the teams have met in 69 ODIs so far, of which England have won 37 matches. The Indian team emerged victorious in 30 games while two games were abandoned.
3 – India lost all of its last three ODI matches. These games were part of five-match ODI series against South Africa which India lost by 4-1.
4 – Toss is going to be an important factor for the Indian team in this series. They have won 10 out of the last 11 ODIs while chasing, whereas they have lost all the last 4 games while batting first.
143 – Mithali Raj has scored 10131 runs in her international career so far. She needs to score 143 runs in this series to go past Charlotte Edwards (10273) and become the highest run-getter in Women’s cricket.
65 – England captain Heather Knight has scored 2935 runs in 99 innings in her ODI career. She needs 65 more runs to become the fourth English woman to complete 3000 ODI runs.
3 – Shafali Verma is all set to make her ODI debut in this game and will open the innings. She will become the third-youngest Indian woman to open the innings in her debut ODI after Mithali Raj and Thirush Kamini.
10 – Smriti Mandhana has been in great form in ODI chases in recent times. She has already hit 10 consecutive fifty+ scores in ODI chases which is a world record. She would hope to continue this dream run in the series against England.
1 – Heather Knight has picked up 49 wickets in her ODI career and is only one scalp away from reaching the 50-wicket mark. If she achieves both the milestones of 3000 runs and 50 wickets in this series, she will become only the sixth such woman cricketer.
2 – Mithali Raj has aggregated 5809 runs as a captain in international cricket. She needs 191 runs in this series to become the second captain after Charlotte Edwards (6728) to complete 6000 runs.
