Mohammed Amir has had a topsy-turvy career thus far in international cricket for Pakistan. He forayed into the big stage as a vibrant teenager who hurried batsmen with his speed and aggression. However, his career experienced a slump when he was found guilty in a spot-fixing scandal in England along with fellow cricketers Mohammed Asif and Salman Butt.
However, after serving the ban, Amir returned during the 2016 T20 Asia Cup against India and has been played consistently for them ever since. The pacer is currently representing the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League and has bowled impressively for the franchise. Recently, Tymal Mills, Amir’s teammate in the Kings, praised Amir for his stupendous performances in a recent media interaction.
Phenomenal Amir
“Amir has been brilliant, especially with the new ball where he is very effective for us. I believe, I saw a graphic on TV the other day which showed that Amir’s power-play bowling has been absolutely phenomenal. With the new ball in all formats of the game, he is excellent as he gets a good swing and also bowls an excellent length with good pace,” Mills was quoted as saying by PakPassion.net.
The English pacer updated about Amir’s injury while signifying the role he has played for the Kings “He has been brilliant so far in the first few games but has a minor niggle at the moment which hopefully isn’t too serious. He has been taking wickets on the power-play and hasn’t gone for too many runs that put pressure on the batsmen to hit out in the next overs and probably lose their wickets,” he added.
Karachi Kings won their opening three games against Quetta, Peshawar, and Lahore respectively. However, persistent rain abandoned their game against Shoaib Malik’s Multan Sultans. Imad Wasim’s team will now face the Islamabad United at Sharjah on Sunday.
