Former Indian cricketer and the current Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar recently sanctioned INR 25 lakh for a noble cause. He sanctioned the amount to the Ernakulam Government General Hospital. The amountt sanctioned to the hospital was from the MPLAD scheme of the Indian government. The amount will be used to set up a digital X-ray unit at the hospital.
As per the reports by the PTI, the MLA from Ernakulam, Hybi Eden had requested Sachin Tendulkar to help the hospital with funds. He requested for the funds in order to set up the digital x-ray machines and the other dialysis units at the government hospital.
This, needless to infer, will help the hospital provide better and improved services to the poorer section of the society. Sachin is known for his generous nature and had soon reverted back to the request. He wrote the district collector of the Ernakulam district regarding the same. He had enquired about the financial, technical and administrative sanctions required for the project.
“The sanctioned work should be approved and completed if they are compliant under the guidelines of the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme,” Sachin Tendulkar quoted.
Felicitating Babasaheb Purandare
In another social event, Sachin felicitated historian Balwan Moreshwar alias Babasaheb Purandare for his reputed works on historic king Shivaji Maharaj. The event was organised by Swargandhar and Jeevan Gani in Vile Parle last night. At the gathering, Sachin spoke about his childhood when he heard a lot of such historic stories when guests came to meet his father.
“During childhood, when I was [staying] in Sahitya Sahawas, [my] father used to sit in the hall with his friends…while chatting and having tea, many names came on my ears. Since I was young, I did not take interest and was not a part of those conversations,” Sachin addressed the audience.
