In what can be called a major setback for the England cricket team, Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the rest of the year due to elbow issues. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made the major announcement on Thursday (August 5) and the cricket world went into a frenzy. After all, the Barbados-born cricketer is one of the finest fast bowlers going around.

Notably, several significant campaigns are lying ahead of England this year. The ongoing Test series against India will be followed by the high-voltage ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The Three Lions will also travel to Australia later this year for Ashes. Archer will not participate in any of these events and it could dent England’s chances of emerging victorious. Not to forget, he will also not take part in the remaining IPL 2021 season.

Jofra Archer shares a positive message

The fast bowler also must have been gutted with his untimely injury. However, it didn’t restrict him from being optimistic. On Friday (August 5), the 25-year-old took to Twitter and posted a positive message.  “Everything Happens for a reason,” he wrote. It’s quite evident that the wounds haven’t dented the speedster’s morale. Subsequently, the comment section got flooded with praises.

Meanwhile, the persistent elbow injury hasn’t allowed Archer to play regular cricket since last year. The wound deteriorated even further during the five-match T20I series against India earlier this year. As a result, he had to come back from the tour midway. The injury also forced him to skip the now-postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

After undergoing a surgery on his right elbow, Archer made a brief comeback in May. He even participated in a T20 Blast game and a 50-over fixture against Oxfordshire. While several expected him to get back in England colours soon, ECB’s announcement shattered their hopes.

Meanwhile, Archer has been a cornerstone of the England team ever since his international debut in 2019. He was also instrumental in taking the Three Lions to the World Cup triumph the very year. Hence, England fans would be hoping for the talented cricketer’s speedy recovery.
