Everything would go in vain if we fail in the last effort, says MI Skipper Rohit Sharma: Starting at the bottom of the table in the initial half of the season followed by getting into an apparent situation of getting eliminated, then fighting back spiritedly with consecutive victories and qualify into the play offs as the second rank team, which was eventually followed by defeating the table toppers CSK in the First Qualifier comprehensively. This has been the story of the unimaginable journey of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2015.

With just a single victory away from tasting the epitome of success, the MI skipper, Rohit Sharma looks pretty much determined about his team’s performance. He urged his teammates to step forward and fight their skins out for one last time. The talented right handed batsman cum skipper feels that their extreme level of hard work would go in vain if they fail to reach the victory line in tonight’s encounter at the Eden Gardens. Eden Gardens has been  a memorable and a lucky ground for the MI skipper. He scored his ODI double ton at this ground. Under his leadership, MI won the  IPL here back in 2013. Also, adding to that, he scored a test century. And right in the first game of this IPL, he scored an unbeaten knock of 98 runs at this very ground. Rohit would definitely try to add further feathers in his Eden cap by seizing yet another IPL triumph at this ground.

During the pre-match press conference, speaking about the setup to the big finale, Rohit said, “At the end of the day, you wait for this all important day to win the Cup. No matter what we have done in the past if you don’t win the final all your hard work will go in vain. We don’t want that. We completely agree we didn’t start well but we always believed there’s character in the team.”

Also, he considered himself and his team lucky enough that their hard work paid off well for them and they have been in cruise control over the league table till now.

Sharma is pretty much determined to put up a last effort and somehow translate things into their favour.

Even the recently selected off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh has his share of some of the sweetest memories of his cricket career but the skipper urged him to stay on present. Rohit added that those memories would be there back in Bhajji’s mind to boost him but he got to stay in the present and focus upon giving his best in those 40 overs of the game.

The final match of the season would kick off at Kolkata from 8 PM tonight.
