South African star Faf du Plessis would be up in the second session of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League. The resumed session of PSL 2021 would be taking place in Abu Dhabi instead of Pakistan due to the COVID-19 situation. Du Plessis would be representing the Quetta Gladiators and would be keen to show his class under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed.

As per the latest reports, Du Plessis praised Pakistan’s young hitter Azam Khan and also compared the captaincy styles of MS Dhoni and Ahmed. The Protean added that while Dhoni is quite reserved and quiet on the field, Ahmed is just the opposite and keeps talking to his players all the while.

During his conversation, there was another vital aspect on which Du Plessis spoke at length. He minutely pointed out the difference between PSL and IPL. The South African felt that while India has a great variety of spinners, pacers are of top quality in Pakistan’s T20 league.

The standard is very good in PSL: Faf du Plessis

“The standard is very good in PSL. The thing that impressed me most about the tournament is the fast-bowlers. Coming from a country like South Africa where you grow up facing a lot of pace, I was surprised to see the amount of bowlers who could bowl at 140 [kph] plus. I think in India there is a huge variety of spin bowlers. I feel the real gem of the PSL is the amount of pace,” said Du Plessis while speaking to Cricket Pakistan.

Before this, Du Plessis was part of the CSK contingent in the interrupted season of IPL 2021. In fact, his red-hot form pushed the yellow army to perform consistently. However, he added that it was very unfortunate that IPL 2021 got suspended due to the spread of COVID-19 across camps.

The Abu Dhabi leg of PSL 2021 had various issues while obtaining permission from the concerned authorities. However, everything has been sorted and the league will be good to go from June 9 and final will be played on June 24.
