Two heavy-weight teams locked horns to win a place in the finals of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. While Chennai Super Kings had an advantage over the Sunrisers Hyderabad after winning both the games against the Hyderabad franchise, the game was certainly not tilting anywhere.

The first half of the game belonged to the Super Kings, as they bowled brilliant line and lengths to get the Sunrisers batsmen in all sorts of trouble. It all began with a gentle in-swinger from Deepak Chahar, which struck Dhawan’s bat to knock the pegs. Further, it was brilliance in bowling from the Super Kings’ to restrict the Sunrisers to a total of 139 runs.

However, the game was not all done, as several times this season, the Sunrisers have closed out the low-scoring games with some brilliance in the bowling department. If Bhuvaneshwar Kumar’s first over was brilliant, Siddarth Kaul’s first over was mesmerising. For a right-arm quick to be bowling at a pace exceeding 130kmph with the line and length he bowled, it requires confidence and experience.

From 25/3 to 140/8, CSK won the game:

At 25/3, and further 52/5 the game was far from within winning reach for the Chennai Super Kings with Faf du Plessis being the only set batsmen for the Super Kings. From could he do it so he did it it was Faf du Plessis 67 off 42 balls brilliance that took the Super Kings home.

“Yesterday, I was just reflecting on my past games, and took some confidence from that mentally. I just entered the changing room now, and asked the boys, ‘how did we win this, guys?’ said a jubilant du Plessis at the end of the game.

Twitter was as much kicked as Faf du Plessis after the stunning victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with messages pouring in for the South African skipper.

Du Plessis expresses his feelings on Twitter:

Du Plessis finally managed to reply back to the fans on Twitter saying “Thanx so much to everyone for the kind messages.. Can’t believe that we won that game last night. Special to be there at the end. Looking forward to the final on Sunday.”
