Fan gets trolled for funnily comparing Steve Smith and Virat Kohli’s Ashes records

Both Smith and Kohli have been stalwarts for their teams in international cricket.

The 2019 Ashes between England and Australia is currently underway with the opening Test of the five-match series taking place at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. A few of the cricketers are making their comeback to Test cricket, one of them is Steve Smith, who was involved in the ball-tampering scandal at the Newlands in Cape Town. And the game turned out to be a fairytale for him.

The 30-year-old restamped his authority with his 24th century in the format. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Aussies lost eight wickets in no time. From there on, Smith took charge and showed why he is regarded as one of the best in the business. Smith scored a masterful 144 and took his team to a competitive score of 284. During this while, he was mocked by the fans.

But it didn’t faze him and he was the last wicket to fall to Stuart Broad, who ended with a five-wicket haul. Smith made his international return in the 2019 World Cup. In the meantime, a fan went on to compare Smith’s number in the Ashes with that of Virat Kohli’s in Ashes itself. It could be seen that the supporter had no logic to his words as Kohli can’t be a part of the high-voltage rivalry.

Kohli and Smith, both impressive cricketers

Kohli has nevertheless been an excellent performance for the Indian team in Test cricket. The Delhi-born took his time, in the beginning, to find his feet in Test cricket. And once he started scoring big runs, there was no stopping the 30-year-old. Kohli is now set to lead India in the T20I, ODI series and Test series versus the Windies, which gets underway on August 3.

Th tweet from the supporter seemed to have taken a sly dig at Kohli while it also praised Smith. The fan took to Twitter and wrote, “Steve Smith has 9 Ashes hundreds. Virat Kohli? Zero”.
