Mahendra Singh Dhoni might hail from Ranchi but in cricketing terms, he is a Chennai boy. The man is immensely popular in the southern parts of the country, thanks to his successful stint as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Tamil Nadu-based franchise which has won the Indian Premier League thrice under the leadership of the former India captain.

The South has another man whom it adores deeply and he is superstar Rajinikanth. On Friday, the actor’s latest film ‘Petta’ will is set to hit the silver screen and ahead of the release the fans are already preparing to roll out a red carpet. In the meantime, however, the world saw a blending of the two superstars that the fans in Tamil Nadu love from the core of its heart Thalaivas – Rajinikath and MS Dhoni.

After ‘Kaala’, it is ‘Petta’

When the veteran actor’s ‘Kaala’ was released last year, the fans came up with a fusion of Rajinikanth and Dhoni. The cricketer featured in the trailers of the film made by the fan and the same has been repeated this time as well, to project the superstar image of Dhoni on the ground, be it through his batting, wicket-keeping or captaincy.

Here is the video of MS Dhoni as Rajnikanth:

The Dhoni version of Petta was liked over 4,000 times and it was retweeted by the CSK’s official Twitter account.

The Thala of Chennai cricket fans was back to lead the CSK in the 2018 edition when it returned from its two-year ban and led it to win the title for the third time since 2008. They will be hoping that the legend, who is inching towards the end of a glorious cricket career, gives them yet another title to better the record of Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma.

Dhoni, 37, is now in Australia to play the ODI series and will be busy with the limited-over assignments till the World Cup in England and Wales in May-July.
