Fans think RCB curse has struck Melbourne Renegades in the BBL as Aaron Finch-led side lose six in row

Aaron Finch was recently bought by RCB in the IPL auction and fans think it is the reason behind luck deserting the Melbourne-based outfit in the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) new recruit, Aaron Finch is having a torrid time in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League. After leading Melbourne Renegades to the title last season, he has failed to inspire the team to come up with a similar performance in the ongoing season. The Renegades are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table after losing all of its opening six games.

Their title-defense started on a dismal note as Sydney Thunder thrashed them by six-wickets in the tournament-opener. In the following game against Perth Scorchers, the Renegades came up with a good performance but just could not cross the finishing line. Chasing a big total of 197, the Aaron Finch-led side fell short by 11 runs.

In their third encounter, they ended up on the wrong side of the result after Hobart Hurricanes beat them by seven wickets. Adelaide Strikers did not let the Renegades break the winless-run either as they beat the Melbourne-based outfit by 18 runs. The defeat against Strikers was followed by a six-wicket loss to Sydney Sixers.

Things then went from bad to worse for the Renegades as they lost the derby too against Melbourne Stars. The Stars avenged their loss in last year’s final by crushing their cross-town rivals by eight wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The sixth loss has all but ended Renegades’ chances of making it to the next stage.

Unlike Renegades, Finch has done decently and has scored two fifties so far. However, he has not really managed to inspire his other teammates to do well and end the team’s disastrous start to the campaign. Renegades will be desperately hoping to put an end to their horrific run in their next outing.

The RCB curse:

In the wake of Renegades’ disastrous start to the season, many fans think that it is the RCB connection that has brought bad luck for the side. Renegades’ skipper Aaron Finch was recently bought by RCB in the IPL auction and fans think it is the reason behind luck deserting the Melbourne-based outfit in the tournament.

In recent times, RCB have struggled to deliver consistently and incidentally, they had also lost their first six games in the last IPL.

Here are some of the reactions from the fans:
