Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League. The team, captained by Rohit Sharma, has won as many as four championships in the last seven seasons. In the previous season, they beat the Chennai Super Kings by a solitary run in the final at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. On the other hand, CSK are the three-time IPL champions.

During the glory run, Rohit has also flourished with the bat. The veteran even sacrificed his opening slot and batted in the middle-order in the 2018 edition of the T20 League. Going into 2020, the franchise roped in quite a few useful names to strengthen their unit. First they bought the dynamic Chris Lynn, who had a few excellent seasons, representing the Kolkata Knight Riders.

A power-packed unit for Mumbai

Rohit’s men also bagged the services of Trent Boult, who was a part of the Delhi Capitals in the previous season of the T20 tournament. Boult’s inclusion has bolstered their bowling unit with the likes of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah already in it. The Mumbai team also boasts of some Caribbean flair, having Fabian Allen, Sherfane Rutherford, and the very experienced Kieron Pollard.

The upcoming edition of the IPL is scheduled to get underway on March 29. Al eyes will be on Rohit and Co, being the defending champions. However, prior to that, the Mumbai team needs to change a trend in order to get their hands on the trophy. They have won titles in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Apart from not winning back-to-back titles, Mumbai strains to deliver in the even years.

Last time in 2018, they failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing quite a few games to start their journey. It’s something, Rohit’s men would wish to work on. In the meantime, the fans are pretty aware of Mumbai’s performance in even years. Bearing in mind the same, #GoEvenThisSeason has been trending on Twitter. Their fans are desperate to see their team, winning in an even year.
