B-Love Kandy (BLK) will lock horns with Jaffna Kings (JK) in the 9th match of the LPL 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on August 5. B-Love Kandy have played three matches where they have won just one and are languishing at the bottom of the table. Jaffna Kings, on the other hand, have played two matches as well where they have won two from their three matches and are at the top of the table.

B-Love Kandy had played against Dambulla Aura in their last match where Dambulla Aura won the toss and elected to bat. They made a cautious start choosing to bat and were going ahead briskly. Dhananjaya de Silva played a fine knock in the middle to improve the scoring rate and helped his team finish with 156 runs on board. Kandy, in reply, were sensational from the start and even though got a little slow in the middle but made up for it towards the end. They won the match comfortably by seven wickets with nine balls to spare.

Jaffna Kings had played against Galle Titans in their last match where Galle Titans won the toss and elected to bat. Titans made a decent start but once the opening partnership broke, they struggled to have good partnerships. With some contribution from Dasun Shanaka, they were able to score 117 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Kings too did not start too differently from their opposition but had a brilliant second-wicket partnership to compensate. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Towhid Hridoy looked to be in great form and won their team the match by eight wickets with more than seven overs to spare.
