Auckland Women had played against Canterbury Women in their last encounter where Auckland Women won the toss and elected to field. They had a fantastic start, as the opening stand lasted for 53 runs. Although once they lost the first wicket, they just kept losing one after the other and eventually ended up with 127 runs by the end of the innings. Auckland had a much weaker start in comparison and kept losing wickets. They did come close to the target by the end but did not have any batters left to do the job. As a result, they lost the game by 11 runs.
