Gambia will take on Ghana in the second match of the Eas-West Africa Cup Qualifiers 2023 on Wednesday (December 6) at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. Both teams are placed in Group A along with Rwanda. The Group B contains Cameroon, Kenya, Mali, and Sierra Leone. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the 2023 ACA Africa T20 Cup. Botswana, Malawi, and Mozambique have already qualified for the marquee event along with Uganda. Uganda won the first edition of the ACA Africa T20 Cup.

It will be the second T20I game between Gambia and Ghana. In the first match, Ghana defeated Gambia by a huge margin of 138 runs.

Gambia last played a T20I game in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group B in 2022. They won one out of seven games and finished in the second-last place in the points tally. Gambia have played a total of seven T20I matches so far and have managed to win only a single game. Gambia defeated Cameroon in their last encounter by 11 runs after posting a total of 115 runs on the board.

Ghana recently played in the West Africa Trophy and finished in third place with four wins in five matches. They lost the 3rd Place play-off match by six wickets against Sierra Leone after chasing down the target of 73 runs in 18 overs. They were placed in Group A during the inaugural edition of the ACA Africa T20 Cup along with Uganda, Botswana, and Mozambique. They won just one out of three matches and were in third place in their group.
