Eventually, they could only score 157 runs, and Surrey won the match easily by 81 runs.

Somerset had squared off against Essex in their last match, where Somerset won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat first, Essex had a horrible start where they lost three wickets at the score of 15 runs. Their middle stepped up to the occasion and lifted their spirits. Due to their valiant innings, Essex could manage to score 186 runs. Somerset meant business in their chase from the first ball and kept scoring at a more than required run-rate. They lost just three wickets in the process and chased down the total with 21 balls to spare with three wickets in hand.
