South Africa Under-19 will take on Afghanistan Under-19 in the second match of the South Africa U19 Tri-Series 2024 on Sunday (December 31) at the Old Edwardians Cricket Club A Ground in Johannesburg. It will be the second game of Afghanistan, while South Africa will play their first match of the tournament.
Afghanistan played their first game against India Under-19, where India won the toss and elected to bowl. Afghanistan were bundled out for 197 runs in 48.2 overs. Hassan Eisakhil and Sohail Khan scored a half-century each for the team. Sohail scored 71 runs off 119 deliveries and was the highest scorer. Saumy Pandey was the pick of the bowlers for India and took six wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs. Adarsh Singh scored 112 runs off 107 deliveries and remained unbeaten. He guided India to a win by six wickets in 36.4 overs. Allah Ghazanfar took two wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs.

South Africa played a five-match Youth ODI series against Bangladesh Under-19 in July this year. Bangladesh won that series by a margin of 3-2. Most of the players who were a part of this series have retained their places in this upcoming series. Ntando Zuma and Riley Norton have also found a place in the squad. Both the players were a part of the Bangladesh tour as non-traveling reserves.
