Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) will be up against Barbados Royals (BR) in the eliminator game of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 on Wednesday, October 2, at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. It will be the first time both teams will face each other at this venue. The Royals last defeated the Knight Riders during the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. The Knight Riders have won 16 out of 25 games against the Royals.
This season, the Knight Riders won seven out of 10 games and finished in third place. The top two teams also won the same number of matches. The Knight Riders were in third position due to a lower net run rate than those two teams. The Royals won and lost five matches each and were in fourth place.
The Knight Riders took on Guyana Amazon Warriors in their last outing and won the match by 74 runs. They scored 211 runs for the loss of five wickets with the help of a century from Nicholas Pooran. Nathan Edwards, Terrance Hinds, and Waqar Salamkheil took three wickets each. The Amazon Warriors were bundled out for 137 runs in 18.5 overs. Pooran won the Player of the Match award.
The Royals faced the Knight Riders only in their last outing and elected to bowl after winning the toss. The Knight Riders posted a total of 175 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Maheesh Theekshana and Naveen-ul-Haq took three wickets each for the Royals. In reply, the Royals managed 145 runs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 30 runs.
