West Indies will face the Netherlands in the fifth T20 World Cup Warm-up game on Wednesday (October 12) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. West Indies won their first game against the United Arab Emirates by 17 runs. They managed to put a total of 152 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs while batting first. Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat for the West Indies. The duo stitched a partnership of 95 runs for the fourth wicket. Junaid Siddique picked a fifer for UAE and other bowlers complimented him with disciplined line and length. UAE gave a tough fight with the ball to Bangladesh in their recently completed two-match series. However, the batters couldn’t join the party on time as the team suffered a whitewash. The story continued in the first game as after a tremendous bowling performance, the batting unit failed to live up to the mark. Apart from Muhammad Waseem and Zawar Farid, no other batter could manage to make a double-digit score as they bundled up for 135 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
The Netherlands, on the other hand, lost their first warm-up game against Scotland by 18 runs. Scotland made 151 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs while batting first. The middle order played a key role for the team after the openers departed for 33 runs. Brandon Glover and Bas de Leede shared six wickets among themselves. The Netherlands had the match in their hand till the time Max ODowd was at the crease. When he was dismissed, they required 62 runs off the last 36 deliveries. However, they could manage to score only 44 runs in these deliveries.
