Feels wonderful to see kids copy my action, says Jasprit Bumrah

One cricketer inspiring a young kid to take up the gentleman’s game seriously is a continuous process and has been progressing wonderfully since the dawn of the game. After some exhilarating performances in the first couple of years in his International career, Jasprit Bumrah too is starting to inspire kids of this generation to pick up the cherry and bowl fast.

After making his international debut in January 2016 in Australia, the 24-year-old fast bowler had no looking back. His bowling action was a bit reminiscent of the legendary Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga and both these bowlers have been the masters of bowling in the death overs.

The young sensation has been growing in stature with every passing game, eventually becoming one of the most important figures in Indian cricket right now. He has also reached a level where the BCCI doesn’t play him often to keep him fit and safe for the ICC World Cup next year in England.

I used to copy my heroes’ actions

When a cricketer performs well so consistently in India, he is bound to amass a huge following and a lot of kids these days are trying to imitate his action. This came to Bumrah’s notice when a Pakistani fan posted a video of a kid trying to bowl like Bumrah and the Mumbai Indians bowler couldn’t resist replying to it.

He recollected how he used to copy the actions of his idols. During the early 2000s, there were some legendary fast bowlers with an attractive and imitable action like Zaheer Khan, Alan Donald, Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath and Dale Steyn. Bumrah grew up watching all these fast bowlers and now, kids are beginning to look up to him.

“As a kid, I remember how I used to copy the actions of my cricketing heroes. It’s a wonderful feeling to see kids copying my action today,” he mentioned in his tweet.
