Murali Vijay has not played white ball cricket for more than 1 year. His last T20 game was for his state site Tamil Nadu when the 33-year-old played against Kerala in February last year. He missed out last year’s Indian Premier League due to wrist and shoulder injury.

The right-handed batter was bought by Chennai-based Chennai Super Kings for the 11th edition of the IPL. Vijay had previously played alongside MS Dhoni in the IPL where he along with former Australia opener Mathew Hayden played few amazing knocks together. As the IPL is coming closer, Vijay hopes that the IPL date should come quickly. Vijay is excited to be back with his old franchise under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Vijay feels that he was lucky to get some time off before the tournament to get fitter. Vijay was attending an event in the city on Thursday.

“I always have a free mind. I’m blessed to have had some time off to get myself fitter and I’m really looking forward to this IPL stint. I’m ready to go. I want April 7 to come early,” said Vijay during the event.

Hopeful that I will contribute to winning: Vijay

According to Vijay, It was a dream come true moment for him when was bought by the CSK for his base price of 2 crores.

“It is a dream-come-true moment for me to be back with CSK. To represent the franchise and put up a show for them is always a pleasure. I’m good enough to do that. Hopefully, I can be consistent and contribute to winning causes,” Vijay said.According to Vijay, the best thing about the CSK is that all the team members put their team ahead of their individual performances. Vijay felt that in CSK, the Indian players along with the overseas players had a great rapport together which allowed them to win the title on multiple occasions. Vijay played important knocks for the CSK in 2010 and 2011 edition of the IPL which CSK won under MS Dhoni.

CSK is making its return in the IPL after facing the 2-year suspension. They start their campaign against the last season winner Mumbai Indians on 7th of April.
