India’s right-arm quick Deepak Chahar hogged all the limelight when wikipedia did a blunder and showcased the wrong age of Agra-born. Deepak, who has represented India in 13 T20 Internationals and 3 One Day Internationals scalping 18 and 2 wickets respectively, was born on August 7, 1992 and thus is just 28 years old.

However, according to Wikipedia the right-arm quick is 48 year old as his birth date is shown as August 7, 1992. Deepak’s elder sister Malti Chahar took note of this blunder done on the internet and shared the screenshot of the same on her official Twitter handle. Matli gave a humorous touch to the entire situation by declaring that her brother Deepak is the fittest player at 48.

“Thanks to Wikipedia…finally Deepak is elder to me. Fittest player at 48 @deepak_chahar9 @Wikipedia #deepakchahhar,” Malti tweeted.

Deepak Chahar’s last outing for India came against Australia during the three-match T20I series in December 2020. The pacer had featured in all the three T20 Internationals for India as the third main pacer alongside Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan. However, he failed to impress the selectors and couldn’t claim a permanent place for himself in the T20I squad as in three matches the bowler could scalp only 1 wicket.

Following this, the bowler was named in Rajasthan’s squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hosted curtailed domestic tournament featuring Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 in a bio-secure bubble.

The poor form of the right-arm quick continued in the tournament too as he could neither scalp wickets for the team nor put a break on the flow of runs. In addition, before his team Rajasthan featured in the marquee knockout game against Bihar, Deepak suffered a niggle injury and had to leave for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for undergoing rehabilitation.

Another mainstay of Rajasthan’s bowling line-up and Deepak’s brother, Rahul Chahar also didn’t feature in the knockout game against Bihar as he was named as the stand-by player for the four-match Test series against England, starting from February 5 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and had to leave for Chennai to serve a mandatory quarantine period before the marquee series.
