In Pakistan, the international cricket is finding its roots back and after a long quest and hard work of the PCB, they have been successful in organizing a T20I and ODI series. After the attack on Sri Lanka cricket team back in 2009, no team wanted to tour Pakistan, but Zimbabwe was the first nation to break such isolation which was then followed by World XI, West Indies and now Sri Lanka is heading for the limited-overs series.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has got the clearance from government and will reach Pakistan on 25 September. Amidst all this, there was a controversy raised when 10 Sri Lanka cricketers pulled themselves out of the tour which irked a few Pakistan cricketers. And now former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has opined on the matter
Saeed Ajmal and Faisal Iqbal advice to PCB
He urged to have a strong stance against the nations refusing to play cricket in Pakistan as well as towards the players.”I think those Sri Lankan players or foreigners who can come for the PSL matches should also tour with their national teams. And if anyone refuses to come with their teams they should not be included in the PSL draft.
“It hurts because we have had plenty of international cricket and PSL matches in Pakistan in the last two years,” Saeed Ajmal was quoted as saying by Firstpost.
Faisal Iqbal who was in the Pakistan team when the 2009 terror attack on the Sri Lankan team took place said it has been 10 years since the incident and it is the time to move on. The former cricketer was also asked about his views over the claims made by Shahid Afridi and minister of Pakistan over Indians for pressurizing Sri Lankan players to rule themselves out of the tour.
“I don’t think so the Indians are involved but my point is if it is safe for anyone to play PSL matches in Pakistan than they should also tour with their teams,” the 26-year-old Faisal said.
