The Pakistan Super League 2020 came to an absurd end on Tuesday. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to call off the two semi-finals and the final. The decision came after the spread of the coronavirus has reached a point where it was necessary to call off the tournament.

After the outbreak of the pandemic, PCB first decided to cut short the tournament by changing the schedule. What was going to be a four-team playoff-like structure was reduced to two semis and the final. Four teams, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi had qualified for the knockout stages. For now, the PSL 2020 has been cancelled and there is no information when will the knockout stage matches happen.

Foreign players and presenters who were in Pakistan for the tournament will now leave the country and fly back home. Australia wicket-keeper batsman Ben Dunk who had an amazing PSL 2020 with the bat took to Twitter to express a desire to come back to the country for PSL. The caption of the post read, ” There’s more to life then cricket. A big thank you to Lahore Qalandars for an amazing PSL. Hopefully, see you all again soon. Look after each other.”

South African commentator Kass Naidoo posted a video on Twitter thanking Pakistan for hosting the tournament. Australian commentators Micheal Slater and presenter Erin Holland were also seen in the video. Naidoo captioned the post, “There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to the people of Pakistan for welcoming us with open arms as cricket returned to this beautiful country. We will be back again.”

Multan Sultans all-rounder Ravi Bopara came up with a different idea to decide the winners of PSL 2020. His tweet read, “As the elderly are more vulnerable to the Coronavirus, it’s only fair the oldest average age team in the PSL 5 to take the trophy.”

Head coach of Karachi Kings, Dean Jones also posted a tweet. He appreciated the support of the fans of Karachi and thanked his team. “A huge thanks to the Karachi Kings fans for your love and support. The best fans in the PSL. Thank you to my Team. What a great bunch of cricketers and more importantly men. Until next year, the BLUE Book is closed,” the former Australian player tweeted.
