The India vs Australia series has not only been about the cricket but also the personal contest. Indian skipper Virat Kohli had decided to come hard at the opposition with cricket and other tactics which hasn’t gone down well with the Aussies. Shane Warne and Mitchell Johnson took a dig at Team India on Twitter after the 3rd Test in Ranchi where their team fought back hard to manage a draw against the hosts at MS Dhoni’s home ground.

Warne tweeted- “Congrats to the Aussies on a wonderful fighting draw. I really think the Aussies can now win this series as Dharamsala will suit their style”

Johnson said, ” #INDvAUS what a series! With 1 test to go home side will be getting nervous”

After losing the wickets of skipper Steven Smith and Matt Renshaw in the first session on the deciding day, the hosts made sure the Indian bowlers stuggled, courtesy the outstanding 124-run partnership between Peter Handscomb (72*) and Shaun Marsh (53). India’s bowling department tried to break a partnership which appeared very strong, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowling in tandem. But it was already too late by the time Jadeja sent back Marsh, and India couldn’t take a series lead.

The series-decider will be hosted in Dharamsala from March 25 but once again, much like how it has been from the very start of the tournament, the mind games have already begun. According to Johnson and Warne, the hosts will be under pressure. This is largely because the HPCA pitch is famous for its pace and bounce, something which is likely to go in favour of Australian bowlers more than the Indian quicks.

Australia captain Steven Smith, on the other hand, feels India’s inability to beat them on the final day of the third Test will hurt them and the momentum will be with the Aussies.

“If there’s anything called momentum in cricket it’s probably with us at the moment. India coming today would have expected to bowl us out. I’m sure they’re hurting a little bit,” Smith said at the post match press conference. It’s (momentum) probably on our side at the moment, but having said that it’s one-all and we’re playing a decider in Dharamsala. The group’s looking forward to it,” he said.

Dharamsala, like Ranchi, will make its debut as a Test venue and so it becomes difficult to predict how the pitch is going to behave there. Thin air and high altitude sees the ball fly around the beautiful HPCA stadium.
