Former Australia cricketer Michael Clarke has purchased a plush five-bedroom mansion in Sidney’s upmarket Vaucluse for $13 million. The 40-year-old reportedly sold his marital home where he resided with ex-wife and Kyly Clarke and daughter Kesley earlier this year.

Clarke bought the new pad last month from Canadian expats Philip and Annette Johnston, which is only a block away from Fitzwilliam Rd mansion, the location of Clarke’s marital home, which the cricketer reportedly sold in February for $12 million. At the time of its purchase in 2014, Clarke shelled out a massive sum of $8.3 million for it.

Meanwhile, Clarke’s new mansion is on a 784 sqm block, with a mineralised gas-heated tiled pool, two outdoor showers and Tuscan style cabana. The house consists of heated limestone floors, four bathrooms, three gas fireplaces, a wrought-iron staircase and a stone island kitchen with a double fridge. It also has a stone ensuite, a master suite with a balcony and a luxurious dressing room, and also has access to local beaches, including the Parsley Bay, the Vaucluse Bay and the Nielsen Park.

As per a dailymail.co.uk report, the purchase of Clarke’s new mansion comes after he signed three new partnership deals, two of which are for Australian Boutique Spirits direct-to-consumer platform BevMart, as well as Fast Fuel meals.

Clarke also became an ambassador of Swysh, a site where sporting fans pay athletes and sports stars money for personalised videos – similar to the celebrity video-sharing site Cameo, the report adds further.

‘It allows me to be closer to my fans,’ the former Australian cricket captain told The Daily Telegraph this week.

“Gone are the days of sitting in a chair for hours signing autographs, everything is online now. For fan engagement, it is no different. I used to sit and sign autographs, now 24/7 you can connect with a fan.”

Clarke represented Australia in 115 Tests, 245 ODIs and 34 T20Is, amassing over 17,000 runs in his 11-year-long international career with 36 centuries and 86 half-centuries. He also led the nation to a 50-over World Cup title in 2015 by defeating New Zealand in the final of the tournament.
