The Twitteratti, however, wasn't going to let him off easily. After all, he had tried to troll one of the most consistent batsmen in the world.

Former English all-rounder David Lloyd tried to take current Indian skipper Virat Kohli down on Twitter but instead, got trolled himself. If you don’t know who Lloyd is then let me tell you, he is a former cricketer who featured for England 9 times in Test cricket and 8 times in ODIs. After retiring, he enjoyed a short umpiring stint before he turned to coaching.

In 1996, he would be appointed as the coach of the England national team. It was during his tenure as the coach that he famously called  Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan a ‘chucker’. Following the 1999 World  Cup, Lloyd stepped down as the coach.

Coming to today’s incident, India were asked to bat first after the Windies won the toss. The Men in Blue got into a spot of bother as they lost two wickets inside the first 10 overs. After Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Miguel Cummins, Kohli walked out to bat in his usual position. Today, though, was not his day as he never really looked comfortable during his brief stay at the crease. The 28-year-old could score only 11 runs off 22 balls before he was dismissed by Jason Holder.

Earlier this month, Anil Kumble had resigned from his post of the head coach stating that the captain had ‘reservations with his style’ and that the partnership had become ‘untenable’. Much has been written about Kohli using his weight to get rid of Kumble ever since.

Lloyd decided to take a jibe at Kohli following his dismissal today. He took to Twitter and sarcastically said that it was the coach’s fault that India were in such a situation in the ongoing ODI.

The Twitteratti, however, wasn’t going to let him off easily. After all, he had tried to troll one of the most consistent batsmen in the world.

Here are some of the best replies on his tweet
