Former Indian captain Ravi Shastri likely to be next India coach, say sources: Former Indian skipper and India’s current team director for the tour of Bangladesh may well be India’s next head coach according to a report in the hindusthan times. Ravi Shastri was India’s team director for the world cup 2015 as well where India reached the semi finals. If appointed, Shastri is sure to sign a lucrative deal with the BCCI and according to some reports he is to be paid Rs. 7 crore a year and that can make him the highest paid cricket coach in the world.

Duncan Fletcher is no longer in the scheme of things after his contract expired. Fletcher was paid 4.2 crores per year. Shastri, who played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India, has been a hit with the senior members of the team since his appointment as director during the tour of Engalnd last year. Test skipper Virat Kohli had also expressed faith and confidence in the team director Shastri.

The man himself  had expressed his desire to continue for a longer duration with the team. He has enjoyed overwhelming support from within the team and that is what has reportedly sealed the deal for BCCI, who has stopped looking for a coach now. Shastri is currently 53 years old. The new appointment is prior to be announced before India’s next tour against Zimbabwe in July.
