“Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts. We are about to take off,” said Harsha Bhogle when AB de Villiers arrived at the crease. Popularly known as Mr. 360, De Villiers transformed the modern day game by playing exquisite shots and doing things on the field that only he was capable of. The star player announced a shock retirement from international cricket stating he had run out of gas and was tired.

De Villiers will surely go down in the history as one of the greatest players to have played the game. He had the ability to asses the match situation and play accordingly. He can play an innings at a strike rate of less than 50 and at a strike rate of over 200. AB quickly adapted himself to the conditions before piling up misery on the bowlers. The 34-year old is also keep to continue playing a role for the Titans in South African domestic cricket.

Impressed with young talent

The Proteas star was impressed with the talent that was coming through the domestic cricket in South Africa. De Villiers enjoyed watching Lungi Ngidi, Aiden Markram and Junior Dala play some good cricket in the T20 tournament.

“You’re seeing all these names come through, and I just sat back in that tournament and I thought for a while, ‘This is incredible. I’m 34 years old now, and I’ve got this incredible privilege to see some of these youngsters come through, and to actually have an opportunity to have an impact on their careers”. De Villiers said on the Roger Goode show on 5FM on Thursday morning.

AB also mentioned that he will be available to play a few more games for the Titans. But apart from that he has no other plans for the rest of the year and wants to spend quality time with his family. The retirement of Mr.360 is surely the end of an era. He was overwhelmed by the response that he got after the announcement of his retirement.
