Ganguly to host TV show to generate business mindset among Bengalis: The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly who is well known for his television show ‘Dadagiri’ is all set to host another one and this time the call has come from none other than Mamata Banerjee.

The West Bengal Chief Minster has found it a unique idea and felt proud to launch the project. In her Facebook post she said, “Yet another first from Bengal is about to unfold soon! Bengal is launching an exclusive business reality show.” It’s yet to be confirmed which channel would broadcast the business reality show, but Mamata has already given name to the show as ‘Egiye Bangla’ (Bengali marching forward).

“Our very own Sourav Ganguly has come forward to be the face of the show. The show will target young entrepreneurs, with unique business ideas and help them to achieve their dreams. Like his passion on and off the field, Sourav will ignite young minds to be successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow,” Banerjee said.

Being the brain child of Banerjee the show is expected to give the government an edge in the 2016 assembly polls. However, the Bengal government officials are unwilling to disclose the amount they need to shell out to Ganguly to host the show.

Sources say the show would be participated by well known businesspersons who would give business ideas to viewers. The reason behind such a thrust, it seems, is to generate business mindset among Bengalis who largely stayed away from entrepreneurship. The show is being sponsored by Bengal government, as Mamata Banerjee wants to promote – Shilpo Karun, Bangla Gorun and for that small entrepreneurs are now being focused to create jobs.

However, the Chief Minister’s venture drew criticism from opposition parties like the Left, Congress and BJP, who mocked her for pinning hopes on a TV show instead of building infrastructure to attract in investments. Since she came to power, Mamata has failed to attract private or foreign investment to the state.
