Gautam Gambhir expected more from Virender Sehwag

Indian opener Gautam Gambhir turned 35 yesterday. His Delhi team-mate Virender Sehwag wished him on Twitter. However, Gambhir was quite surprised at the way Sehwag wished him. Much like Gambhir, most of his fans were also surprised to see a plain wish from Sehwag. Sehwag is known for making birthday wishes special with his humorous tweet digs. He is known for taking digs at his fellow mates and has become a social media sensation.

The expectations were high as the fans wanted Sehwag to come up with a hilarious tweet on Gautam Gambhir. The duo share great camaraderie between them. They have opened the batting for Delhi over the years and also for India. But, Sehwag chose to take everyone by surprise when he tweeted an ordinary, sarcasm-less, pun-less tweet. He wrote, “Many Many happy returns of the day Gautam Gambir.”

In fact, he even got the spelling of Gambhir wrong. We wonder if that was intentional. Gautam Gambhir was quick to acknowledge the birthday wish. He did not shy away from expressing that he expected a little more from Sehwag. He said that he was expecting a typical Virender Sehwag tweet. He wrote, “Thanks @virendersehwag bhai. I was expecting a wish in your commentary style bhai.”

Yuvraj Singh, the veteran left-handed batsman, also wished Gambhir. He tried to a take subtle dig at Gambhir’s serious nature. But he was left amused when Gambhir trolled him citing his marriage that is on the cards this December. Yuvraj wrote, “Many happy returns of the the day mr @GautamGambhir ! God bless you with running between the wickets and a smiley! Keep going gg!”

Gambhir quickly replied back that Yuvraj need good running between the wickets skills after his marriage. He cited that Yuvraj will need it to shuffle between ktichen and bedroom after his marriage.
