The Under-19 India team cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Australia in the final by eight wickets, something that sees them lift the prestigious trophy yet again. The team has done extremely well in this World Cup winning all the six matches that they have played including the final where they claimed a win with 67 deliveries to spare. This makes it the fourth time that India are lifting the U-19 World Cup, the most by any team.
The Australia U-19 team opted to bat first after Jason Sangha called correctly and won the toss. Although they had a decent start to the innings, the Indian bowlers never let them settle. They picked timely wickets denting their chances of putting up a big total on the board. However, despite all this, the Aussies were bowled out at 216 runs in the 48th over of their innings.

Chasing a minimal target in the big finals, the Indian team was jolted after losing their top performers, Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill early on in their innings. However, opener Manjot Kalra and wicket-keeper Harvik Desai held on to their nerves. The former went on to make a century in the big finals and ensured that India gets through. Harvik also played his part and remained unbeaten on 47.
Harvik Desai finished off India’s run chase with a boundary and the entire team was absolutely pumped. There were some absolutely brilliant scenes at the stadium with the Indian celebrating their victory. Further, the U-19 coach Rahul Dravid looked a very satisfied man. The team was flooded with wishes from the cricketing fraternity and everyone was thrilled with the victory.
Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir took it to Twitter to express his delight. He wrote, “बच्चे तो बच्चे, बाप रे बाप!!!” which means that it is a great achievement even if the players are young kids. Furthermore, Gauti also shared a 2011 World Cup-winning moment picture.
