Former India international Gautam Gambhir has been vocal about the perennial problems the country has been facing. He has left no stone unturned in supporting the security forces and personnel of India. The 35-year old has opined his views through his Twitter account in the past and has, on some occasions, faced wrath of various people.

Recently, he condemned the Farrukhabad incident which left the country in shock. In another such tweet, he won the hearts of a million fans and has also inspired a lot of people. The opener announced that he is going to support the daughter of the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Abdul Rasheed, who was martyred in an attack by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on August 28. He used the hashtag ‘Daughter of India’ in a tweet which moved a lot of people.

The southpaw batsman also saluted Zohra’s father for dedicating his life to the country. Gambhir is an intense patriot and has huge regards for the Indian Army and other security personnel, who protect their country day-in and day-out.

Zohra’s picture went viral on social media. She was inconsolably weeping while witnessing the last rites of her father. The Jammu and Kashmir police also extended their sympathies to the aggrieved family through their Twitter account. Soon, donations started pouring in as the J&K police appealed to the citizens of the valley to contribute as much as possible for Abdul Rashid, who killed in the line of duty.

Gautam Gambhir is known to make such noble gestures. He runs a foundation – ‘The Gautam Gambhir Foundation’ which supports the family of martyrs. Recently, the cricketer had announced that his foundation will support the education expenses of the children of the 25 CRF men who were killed in a Maoist attack in Chattisgarh.
