Gautam Gambhir in the midst of another controversy

Gautam Gambhir, the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders has been an aggressive cricketer over the years. After his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders putting up a total of 183 against Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB), Gambhir might have expected a win since the Eden Gardens track is known for grip and turn and they have a great spin attack as well.

But, RCB had chased down the total and thus won the match by 9 wickets. In the 19th over of the match, Virat Kohli hit the ball towards the point region, which was collected by Gautam Gambhir, who is known for his aggressive attitude, throws the ball towards the non-striker’s end where Virat Kohli was standing after completing the single.

The on-field umpire, possibly because of the throw, snatched the ball from bowler Andre Russell’s hand which got Gambhir furious which led to a disagreement between the officials and Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir is likely to be fined for this attitude against the umpires. Back in 2013, he was involved in another on-field spat with Virat Kohli at the Chinnaswamy stadium after the latter was caught on 35 by Eoin Morgan at covers.

In this editions first encounter between these two, Gambhir was fined 15% of his match fees for kicking a chair in the dug-out in a violent manner.

According to an IPL media release, “Gautam Gambhir from the Kolkata Knight Riders team was fined 15% of his match fee for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his teams match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 2.”
