On Sunday, Pakistan won their first ever ICC Champions Trophy title. They defeated India by 180 runs at the Kennington Oval in London. The result was hard to digest for many Indian fans. They were, for obvious reasons, dejected and heartbroken. Entire Indian cricket fraternity was dumbfounded and stupefied. It was an unexpected loss, and a loss to remember for a long time.

Choosing to bowl first, India conceded as many as 338 runs. 25 extras were given away by the Indian bowlers, as they faced the heat of Pakistan’s batting. Then it was the turn of the Indian batters to feel the heat of green shirts’ bowling. At 54/5, the game was all but over for India. A spirited fight was offered by Hardik Pandya, but he became the victim of a misunderstanding which cost India Pandya’s wicket.

After the match was done and dusted, Kashmir began to celebrate India’s humiliation. The drums and firecrackers were doing their level best to rub salt on India’s wounds. A bunch of youth marched towards Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s residence, who is the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference. As per the request of the mob, Farooq came out of his house at Nigeen.

Early Eid for Kashmiris

According to the Kashmiris, it was an early Eid for them. Farooq also indulged in the celebrations. His happiness knew no bounds, which was visible from his tweet where he wrote “Fireworks all around, feels like an early Eid here. Better team took the day. Congratulations team Pakistan.”

But the tweet was not to the liking of veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir. The Delhi lad is known for his straight-forward attitude. He slammed Mirwaiz in his tweet, where he asked the Hurriyat leader to cross the border and go to Pakistan. “A suggestion Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, why don’t u cross the border? U will get better fireworks (Chinese?), Eid celebs there.I can help u wid packing,” wrote the double G in his tweet.
