Gautam Gambhir is quite outspoken when it comes to topics that are controversial. The fierce Indian opener who recently played for his country against England in the Tests. Gambhir was holding nothing back when he rubbished the claims made by Brad Hodge over Virat Kohli. Hodge said that Virat Kohli was missing the fourth and the final Test against Australia in order to be fit for the Indian Premier League. He also said that there are players who have done it and if Virat Kohli turns up for the IPL opener he will be found dirty.

Gautam Gambhir said that Hodge wanted to be in the headlines and hence he said it and it is just one comment that gets you in the headline. The Delhi-man also rubbished the comments from the Aussie saying that he knows Virat personally and he would never do such a thing.

“Knowing Virat he would have never done that and these people, look if you want to be in the headline you can say anything you want and it’s just about making a headline or trying to get your name in the press by making such statements. If you don’t know the extent of the injury you should not be talking about it.” Gambhir was quoted as saying by CNN.

The 35-year-old did not stop there he went on to bash Brad Hodge. He said that taking Hodge’s comments were immature and there is no point in talking about one or two individuals. Gambhir also believes that cricket is a team sport and no single person should be targeted.

He said: “You should stop targeting one or two individuals, in a team sport there’s no point targeting one or two individuals, you should talk about the cricket. Taking someone individually or blaming someone individually or personally is something which should not work … it’s very immature.”

Gambhir was furious at Hodge for his comments. He was of the opinion that no player would ever miss a Test match for his country and the Indians are very passionate about it and no player would do such thing.

He further added, “That’s absolutely not valid. I feel that someone who’s playing for their country and captaining it would never want to miss a Test match and would definitely want to play for India more than any other tournament. That’s always been the case.”
