The spearhead of South African bowling line-up, Dale Steyn is currently playing for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Glamorgan are close to signing Steyn for part of their T20 Blast campaign. Glamorgan’s campaign start on 26th May and Steyn’s availability for Glamorgan’s first game away to Surrey would entirely depend on Gujarat’s progress in IPL. Glamorgan had already signed Australian paceman Shaun Tait for the second half of the T20 tournament.
Dale Steyn is undoubtedly one of the best pace bowlers of this generation. He is currently ranked no.4 in the ICC Test ranking but his record in the shortest format of the game is not that great being ranked 62nd in the T20 standings.

Steyn has made 236 appearances for South Africa across all formats of cricket, including the 2016 T20 World Cup, but is not involved in their one-day series against West Indies and Australia in June.
He has taken 406 Test match wickets, one of the 13 bowlers to break the 400 mark. Former Glamorgan captain and England Test opener Steve James believes Steyn’s arrival will bring excitement to the county.
“From what I gather he is coming and it will be exciting, Dale Steyn is one of the greatest bowlers who has ever lived,” he told BBC Radio Wales Sport.
“Unfortunately, he probably hasn’t been at his best in the last couple of years in limited-overs cricket and that is probably why he is available.”
Steyn seemed to confirm his move to Glamorgan by posting on Twitter about potential fishing spots.

It is hoped that he will be fit for the T20 opener at the Oval.
