The newest addition to Glamorgan is the explosive Protean, David Miller. They have signed up the hard-hitting batsman as their overseas player for a short stint. Miller will play six games in the Natwest T20 Blast and is set to feature in his first game on Sunday against Essex, in Cardiff. His short stay will end with a match against Surrey on August 4.

The 28-year-old is the third overseas batsman to join the Welsh county alongside T20 captain Jacques Rudolph and compatriot Colin Ingram with the latter having already scored two centuries in the competition. Glamorgan has won two of their opening four T20 games in the South group ahead of their next game against Sussex Sharks on Friday, 21 July, at the SSE Swalec.

“We are delighted to sign David Miller for a six-game stint in this year’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign,” Hugh Morris, Glamorgan Chief Executive and Director of Cricket said.

“David is a fine batsman, with a wealth of experience in T20 cricket. He is a match-winner and a finisher, proven to be one of the most destructive batsmen in the game at both domestic and international level.”

“Hopefully his signing will add depth to our batting and boost our prospects of replicating last season’s form when we secured a home quarter-final in the knock-out stages. We look forward to welcoming David to The SSE SWALEC this weekend,” as reported by Cricbuzz.

History in the T20s

Being an experienced white ball specialist, Miller has already played for Durham Jets and Yorkshire Vikings in the T20 Blast previously and has also enjoyed successful T20 spells in the Caribbean Premier League for St. Lucia Zouks and in the Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab.

He boasts an excellent record in T20 cricket averaging 34 at a strike rate of 137 and has played 52 T20 internationals and 99 One-Day Internationals for South Africa. Miller’s last outing in Cardiff was at the end of June for South Africa in the third NatWest International T20.
