Glenn Maxwell does his best when he is set as free as possible: Parthiv Patel

The second phase of the IPL 2021 is all set to commence in the UAE from September 19 where CSK and Mumbai Indians will set the action for the opening clash. All the teams and staff members have already reached the gulf nation and are pushing their final phase of preparations. Talking about one such star from RCB camp, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be keen on putting up a great show for his new franchise this season.

Maxwell was roped in by RCB ahead of IPL 2021 as his previous franchise PBKS released him in the mini-auction. Maxwell had a terrible season in the last IPL but he had been the backbone of Punjab’s team on various occasions. In the same line of events, former India cricketer Parthiv Patel feels that certain players need a certain type of atmosphere to bloom. In that case, Maxwell can only give his level best when he is just set free.

“I think there are certain players; they flourish in a certain atmosphere. I think, sometimes, you do not put a lot of pressure on them; you just allow that player to be what they are, and sometimes that makes a big difference to the player’s psyche. I think you will have to give a pat on the back to RCB’s management here. Glenn Maxwell, we all know what he could do, but then to allow him to be what he is and just be as free as possible. So, you will have to give the credit to RCB’s team management here for allowing him to play the way he wants to,” said Patel on STAR SPORTS show GAME PLAN.

It has to be noted that RCB started their Indian phase of IPL 2021 on a fine tone and are currently placed at 3^rd position on the points table. With start players like ABD, Maxwell, and Virat Kohli in their unit, it remains to be seen if they can maintain their momentum and get hands of their maiden IPL title in the UAE.
