The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is contested fiercely by the top two Test nations. Everyone is treated with the highest quality and some extremely passionate cricket. Both the nations are proud and have game changers on their side. If we compare the two teams there is hardly any doubt about how balanced these two sides are.
Two young captains- Virat Kohli and Steve Smith wanting to win it all for their country going all out with super talented cricketers at their disposal. This series is one of the best you will ever witness. There are personal rivalries as well. May it be Ravi Ashwin and David Warner or Ishant Sharma and Smith it has always been competitive.
However, the Australians quite crossed the line on during the second session of day three. Virat suffered a terrible shoulder injury while fielding but came out to bat defeating the pain. The 28-year-old was taking in all the pain and also took an injection to make it.
The Indian skipper was not on the field for most of the Australian innings but the Australian players did not leave a chance to mock him. The Aussies are known for their ruthlessness but this is nothing close to that. When Cheteshwar Pujara hit one through mid-wicket, Glenn Maxwell had to put in a long chase and a dive to stop it from going to the fence. After recovering from the dive, Maxwell did something terrible, he held his right shoulder mocking the Indian captain with a smile on his face.
It was a pretty similar attempt to what Virat made and ended up injuring his shoulder. After recovering from the dive, Maxwell did something terrible, he held his right shoulder mocking the Indian captain with a smile on his face.
On the very next ball, Virat batting against Pat Cummins tried to drive the ball but all he managed was an outside edge and Smith gleefully accepted it in the slips. He took the catch and was already celebrating before even falling back on the ground. The entire Australian cordon including wicketkeeper Matthew Wade that was behind the stumps gave Kohli a sendoff as he was dismissed for a single digit score.
Earlier Virat himself had come out to the window of the dressing room to applaud when the Australian team lost their second review with an unsuccessful attempt. The sparks are certainly flying off in this contest and things are only expected to get hotter.
