Glenn Maxwell of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) doesn’t had a great season with both bat and ball and his team is positioned 7th in the points table, with no more hopes of making it into the playoffs.

Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Glenn Maxwell suffered an injury in their last encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday and has decided to go back home and to recuperate ahead of the tri-series in the West Indies.

Australia’s Support team Physiotherapist, David Beakley said “Glenn reported increasing soreness in his left abdomen area following last night’s (Sunday’s) match and as such a decision was made for him to return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the West Indies tour.”

Maxwell is the fifth Australian to pull out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Australian captain Steve Smith (wrist) of Rising Pune Supergiants, Mitchell Marsh (side strain) of Rising Pune Supergiants, John Hastings (ankle) of Kolkata Knight Riders and Shaun Marsh (back) of Kings XI Punjab. David Beakley had said that it is not a century that could stop him from playing in the tri-series in West Indies. “From the information we have so far, the injury doesn’t appear to be something that will prevent Glenn from participating in this tour, but we are keen to give him the necessary time to recover before departing to the West Indies at the end of this month.”

Maxwell had scored 179 runs from his 11 appearances in this IPL season at a below par average of 19.88 and with a high score of 68.
