The stylish left-hander has also been in brilliant form. After a slow start in the first game, he’s picked up pace really well in the next three games. He has scored 145 runs at a strike-rate in excess of 150. The Punjab-born cricketer is striking the ball beautifully and is the leading run-getter for his side, Toronto Nationals. In fact, he has scores of 35, 45 and 51 in his last three innings.

Thus, he has been leading from the front. In Toronto’s last game, despite Yuvraj’s 22-ball 51, they lost to the Brampton Wolves as they fell short by 11 runs while chasing a mammoth 223. However, there was one moment in Brampton’s innings which caught the eye of everyone.

Yuvraj fat to fit

Yuvraj Singh has been in the news for his fitness. He has struggled quite a bit and has been criticised for moving slowly in the field. However, he defied that and showed that he still has sharp reflexes. Brampton got off to a fast start in the first innings. A couple of sixes from Lendl Simmons and another couple of boundaries from George Munsey helped them get to 29 in 3.1 overs.

Jeremy Gordon was in his second over when Simmons struck the ball hard towards Yuvraj at mid-off. It went straight to the Toronto skipper but he made a mess of it on the first occasion. The ball popped out and hit his chest and then again popped out before Yuvraj dived and grabbed it. He reacted very well after the first two misses and finally took a good catch.

That catch gave Toronto their first breakthrough of the game. However, they ended up conceding 222 in 20 overs. Yuvraj who walked out to bat at No. 4 tried his best to help his side hunt this total down. But once he departed after scoring 51, Toronto couldn’t finish the job. This loss leaves them at the fifth spot on the points table.
