Former Australian vice-captain David Warner is back on the field playing professional cricket for the Winnipeg Hawks in the Global T20 Canada. Warner is playing a professional game after over three months as he was suspended by Cricket Australia after the ball-tampering saga. Warner took the field for the Hawks on 30 June 2018.

However, the aggressive left-handed batsman failed to deliver with the bat. Unlike his counterpart Steve Smith, Warner didn’t accumulate as many runs. His team was put into bat first by the Montreal Tigers. However, Warner got out in just the second over of the innings on the second ball that he faced. Slinga Malinga got his act right as he dismissed the big fish. He got through Warner’s defence as he extracted a bit of swing early in the game.

Missed out with the bat, brilliant on the field!

Although David Warner disappointed with the bat, you can’t keep a player like him quiet on the field. He is one of the best fielders around the world. Warner was in the action right in the first over of the second innings. Windies batsman Ashley Nurse played a lofted shot off Junaid Siddiqui towards long-off region.

It was quite a rash shot from Nurse as he was trying to hit one out of the park. It was always going to be tough for David Warner at long-off to run and take the catch. However, he covered the field very quickly. Warner judged the catch to absolute perfection ending up taking a brilliant catch. Winnipeg Hawks won that game against the Montreal Tigers by 46 runs. Ben McDermott was the star for the ‘Winnipeg Hawks’ as he scored 68 runs off 46 balls.
