The Global T20 Canada is already into the playoffs and we are just a few days away from finding the winner of the tournament. On the thirteenth day of the league, two playoff games were played. Both of these games were high-scoring and nail-biting one’s. It definitely got the fans to the edge of their seats.

Vancouver Knights and Cricket West Indies-B, who finished top two on the points table played the first qualifier. It was the Winnipeg Hawks against the Edmonton Royals who faced each other off in the ‘Eliminator’. While CWI-B, who won the ‘Qualifier-1’ proceed straight to the final, Vancouver Knights get another chance. They will play Winnipeg Hawks, who won the ‘Eliminator’ in ‘Qualifier-2’ of the Global T20 Canada.

The winner of ‘Qualifier-2’ will proceed into the final of the Global T20 Canada and the champions are then decided. Edmonton Royals, having lost the ‘Eliminator’ are now knocked out of the tournament. Here is how the games proceeded on the first day of the playoffs.

Vancouver Knights vs CWI-B – Qualifier 1, Playoffs

After two back to back shocks, the CWI-B finally recovered. They took their revenge against the Vancouver Knights, which was the only team to defeat them in ‘Round 1’ of the league stages. CWI-B won the toss and opted to field first. The Knights had a steady start as both their openers got to fifties. While Chadwick Walton scored 54, Chris Gayle scored 50. With the help of a few cameos from Dussen, Hayat and Russell, they got to 215 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. As many as 25 extras were conceded in the innings.

Furthermore, the Knights also started on an amazing note with their bowling. The in-form openers and B King were dismissed early and the CWI-B team was down to 11/3 within the third over. A win from here seemed obvious for the Knights. However, Sherfane Rutherford played the innings of his life. He scored 134 off just 66 balls. With the help of a 44 from N Pooran and a 23 from A Bramble, CWI-B reached the target on the last ball of the innings with 6 wickets remaining.

Brief Scores:

VCK: 215/6 in 20 overs (Chadwick Walton 54, Chris Gayle 50, J Louis 2/46)
