They both are two stalwarts of T20 cricket. When on the field playing the opponent sides, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have very little reason to remember the fact that both are born in Trinidad. The cricketing world saw the rivalry blossoming once again in Brampton where the two players locked horns in a game in the Global T20 Canada. While Bravo represented Winnipeg Hawks, Pollard was playing for Toronto Nationals and it was the former who won the clash by three wickets.

The Bravo-Pollard face-off happened in the final over of the Nationals innings after Hawks captain Rayad Emrit won the toss and asked Yuvraj Singh’s team to bat first. Bravo had already taken two wickets for 26 runs and was bowling his fourth and final over.

Pollard, on the other hand, was in a big touch as he was batting on 52 off just 19 balls. Pollard was foxed by Bravo’s first delivery and as the bowler was preparing to bowl his next ball, the batsman was heard teasing him with what had happened in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in May. Bravo came back to pick Pollard in the very next ball. The muscular batsman tried to lift him out of the park but a wrong timing saw him getting caught brilliantly by Emrit near the ropes.

An ecstatic Bravo was then found celebrating by dancing in front of the departing batsman as one of the commentators screamed: “It’s Bravo who wins the battle. Look at him go! It’s Bravo 1, Pollard nil!”

Bravo ended up with 4 for 39 in his four overs as he picked Chris Green a couple of deliveries later as well and the Nationals ended up at 216 for 7 in 20 overs. The Hawks overhauled the target in the final ball of their 20 overs with their top order clicking at the right time.

Pollard had beaten Bravo in final of IPL 2019

But what had happened in the final of the IPL? On that occasion, Pollard, who plays for Mumbai Indians (MI), slammed 41 not out off 25 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that feature Bravo. Bravo was bowling the final over of the Indians’ innings as well and was hit for two consecutive boundaries in the final two deliveries by Pollard. The MI’s total reached 149 in 20 overs and that proved decisive at the end as the CSK lost the game by a solitary run.
