Shakib-Al-Hasan has been one of the best allrounders in world cricket over the years. Though his national team may not have reached great heights, he has attracted interests among a lot of franchises in the world. Shakib’s ability to score runs at a rapid pace coupled with his spin-bowling skills puts him on par with the rest of the players. His tons of experience in international cricket is the icing on the cake.

The final retention list was released by the franchises on January 4. Shakib-Al-Hasan became the first Bangladeshi player to feature in the IPL. He has played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the past seasons. This time, KKR have decided to retain Andre Russel and Sunil Narine. In all likelihood, KKR will not use their Right To Match card(RTM) on the all-rounder. This means that he has to attract interest from other franchises.

My name will be in the Auction

“In fact, there is nothing to feel bad about this. My name will be in the auction. If someone will take me in the team, well, praise be to Almighty. And it is no big deal if I wouldn’t be taken at all.” Shakib was quoted as saying by bdcrictime.com. The auction will be held on January 27 and 28 which is after the conclusion of the tri-nation series between Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

The ace all-rounder has to be at his best to have a chance of getting picked for the mega event. We have seen in the past that big names can be left out of the IPL with the lesser known ones getting sold. It would not be a surprise for Shakib if he remains unsold this season. The franchises usually tend to go with the current form of players which means that stakes are much higher for Shakib this time around.

The tri-nation series will begin on January 15 with Bangladesh facing Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur.
