Arguably the most popular search engine, Google, is renowned for showing their support to important events with their innovative logos. They tend to customize the logo on their home page with a design that resembles the special event. Recently, on the day when the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 commenced, they were at it yet again. They had a dedicated logo for the sporting event.

Over the years, the game of cricket has made giant strides and is one of the most popular sports in the world. Unfortunately, the rise of the sport has been quite biased. Albeit some might claim that there is no bias in respect to who plays the game, things are evident when one sees scanty crowds for the Women’s teams matches.

Hence, it came as a very sweet gesture from Google to be coming up with their support for the most prestigious event in the women’s cricket. They showed their support by launching the Doodle game. The game is quite interactive and it features ants and snails. They represent the women cricketers. The ants run very fast between the wickets. On the other hand, the snails are highly active on the field.

Interestingly, Google had launched this game during the ICC Champions Trophy as well. Now, when they re-launched it for the ICC Women’s World Cup, they have received all praises from the fans. The gesture is surely a very sweet one.

Grand opening of the tournament

Talking about the tournament, it was the New Zealand Women side and the India Women side who registered wins on the first day of the tournament. India Women beat the tournament favorites England Women by 35 runs after their top order oozed class with the ball on the day. In the other game, New Zealand Women restricted the Sri Lanka Women to a total under 200 and then chased it down inside 40 overs of play.
