One of the most sought after T2o specialist in Franchise cricket, former New Zealand all rounder, Grant Elliot revealed that being a part of the World XI side to tour Lahore would feel like going back home. Elliot has been an integral member of the Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars and also played in the finals held at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.

In their attempt for the revival of cricket in Pakistan, PCB has organised a three-match T20I series against the World XI. Elliot along with the likes of Faf du Plessis, Miller, Sammy, Perera, Amla, Collingwood and many others, are a part of the World XI squad.

Elliot is fresh off NatWest T20 Blast campaign where he led the Birmingham Bears to the Finals of the tournament before facing defeat at the hands of eventual winners Nottingham Outlaws. On being asked whether it was difficult decision to make for him to tour the country, Elliot suggested that there are superior authorities to worry about the security measures.

None would tour Pakistan unless they didn’t think it was safe: Elliot

“You’ve got the relevant people and relevant bodies there such as FICA and the ICC and you base your decision on their directive. Also having played in the Pakistan Super League I have people such as the owners of the Lahore Qalandars to offer me advice,” commented Grant Elliot in an interview with PakPassion.

“Obviously, you do your homework and it’s not the sort of decision that you take lightly, but I don’t think anyone would be going to Pakistan if they did not think it was safe and no amount of money would get people there if they did not think it was safe. I hope that we are potentially taking a small step to bringing international cricket back to Pakistan at some stage,” further added the 38-year old.

“I’ve never been to Lahore so I’m really looking forward to that. I suppose, going to Lahore will feel like I am going home,” quoted Elliot when asked about how special it would be as an adopted Lahori the World XI series in Lahore.
