The ongoing St. Moritz Ice Cricket is proving to be a very joyful new addition to the sport of cricket. Never did any cricket fan imagine that the game of cricket could be played on ice. And now, it has become a reality. The tournament has already given several moments of brilliance. In a funny turn of events, Kiwi all-rounder Grant Elliot found himself pulling off a very good run out in the recent match.

Grant Elliot was seen running out former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey with a good throw from the fine leg region. The action perspired in the 7th over of the Palace Diamonds innings. Mike Hussey played the final ball of the over quite fine by glancing it to the fine leg region. Elliot saw the ball coming in his direction and started running to get hold of the ball.

Hussey completed a single and looked for another. Elliot was seen slipping on the turf and that provoked Hussey to steal a double. Elliot, however, was quick to get up again. His pants had come off, so he had to pull his pants up again after getting back on his feet. And then, he got hold of the ball and was quick to throw the ball to the wicket keeper.

The keeper dislodged the stumps and the Royals had their man. The replays suggested that Mike Hussey was clearly short of his crease and the third umpire ruled him out. The slow motion replays showed how Grant Elliot had enough time to pull his pants up and then throw the ball to dismiss Hussey on 1.

Talking about the match, the Virender Sehwag-led Palace Diamonds posted a decent 164/9 in their 20 overs riding on skipper Sehwag’s quick 31-ball 62. Andrew Symonds also chipped in with 40 runs. For the Royals, Abdul Razzak was the pick of the bowlers with 4/18 to his name.

In the run chase, Owais Shah firmly anchored the innings for Royals to seal a comfortable 6 wicket win. Shah remained unbeaten on 74 off 34 deliveries with 5 fours and 7 sixes.
