Alyssa Healy went absolutely berserk in the ongoing Women’s World Cup final between Australia and England. The Aussie opener dismantled the England bowlers and played arguably the greatest knock in World Cup history. From the veteran Katherine Brunt to the young Sophie Ecclestone, Healy spared none and scored 170 off just 138 deliveries. Notably, Healy recorded the highest score in a Women’s World cup final and fifth-highest overall in the tournament’s history.

Earlier in the game, England Women won the toss and opted to bowl at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Healy had a special supporter in the stands as her husband and Australia speedster Mitchell Starc was cheering for her. The wicketkeeper-batter didn’t disappoint her better half and put up a batting exhibition in the summit clash.

Alyssa Healy made a mockery of England bowlers

She went after the bowlers from the outset and was very well supported by fellow opener Rachael Haynes. While Haynes was watchful and took the backseat, Healy was at her destructive best. As a result, the potent-looking England bowling attack looked utterly clueless. Skipper Heather Knight tried many strategies and brought up different bowlers to somehow contain Healy.

However, none of her efforts were fruitful as England bowlers endured a hard time throughout the contest. Meanwhile, Healy and Haynes added 160 runs for the first wicket before the latter fell prey to Ecclestone at a personal score of 68. Nonetheless, Healy then found another substantial partner in Beth Mooney, who also handled the mantle of accumulating quick runs.

Meanwhile, Healy brought up a run-a-ball 100 in the 35th over as there was ecstasy in the Aussie camp. However, little did the England bowlers know that the batter will become even more destructive after reaching the three-figure mark. She tonked the ball for fun and scored her next 70 runs off just 38 deliveries.  Riding on her brilliance, the Women in Yellow posted 356/5 in their allotted 50 overs.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to Alyssa Healy’s stupendous knock:
